Los Angeles Cleantech Global Showcase (GloSho)

International Cleantech Event

  • 2015, Los Angeles, USA

GloSho is a leading international cleantech event on the US West Coast. It brings together startups, multinationals, investors and political actors spotting current trends in the cleantech market, and searching for international collaboration and funding opportunities. Borderstep is a regular GloSho contributor.

The LA Cleantech Incubator’s 3rd Global Showcase (GloSho) Summit 2015 takes place in LA on October 12 and 13. This year, it will further strengthen the importance of international partnerships, funding opportunities and joint initiatives. Keynote speeches, panel discussions and workshops will highlight members of the Global Innovation Network, a program dedicated to opening world markets to cleantech innovators, with a special focus on startups.

The Borderstep Institute for Innovation & Sustainability will again help facilitate interactive discussions highlighting thought leadership from the German cleantech startup and innovation ecosystem.

GloSho will also mark the opening of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, a dedicated, multi-use 3,000 square meter facility, the new home for LACI, cleantech demonstration centers, R&D labs, conference facilities and workforce training facilities.

The Global Showcase (GloSho) 2014 Summit took place October 6 and 7, 2014. Borderstep hosted the panel “International Market Showcase: Germany” which explored the German Energiewende, the transition by Germany to an energy portfolio dominated by renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development, and the opportunities it creates for cleantech startups. The panel took a look at different perspectives on Germany’s cleantech ecosystem and kicked off an exchange program (or “Landing Pad Program”) for cleantech startups which Borderstep and the LA Cleantech Incubator had set up together.

LA Cleantech Incubator’s GloSho 2014 Summit was opened by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, whose vision it is to transform the City of Los Angeles into one of the most important cleantech epicenters in the U.S. and worldwide. Other speakers included the Governor of California, Jerry Brown, and Richard Kaufman, New York State’s first cabinet-level energy czar and former senior advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s secretary, Steven Chu.
