Dr. Willy Bierter is a research fellow at the Borderstep Institute for Innovation and Sustainability. His work focuses on strategic sustainability consulting and knowledge management, conceptualizing and implementing innovation strategies, coaching and managing complex innovation projects, (eco)design of systems, processes, products and services, and the sustainable transformation of businesses and organizations. Further areas include sustainable future markets and technologies as well as mass customization and “technofactories.”
Bierter studied physics at the University of Basel. From 1990 to 1995, he was an external lecturer at ETH Zurich for a course on Environmental Sciences (design of systems and technology). From 1992 to 1996, he was head of the “New Models of Prosperity” research group at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. He has been the director of the Product-Life Institute in Geneva since 1995. In addition, he is a member of the Factor 10 Club and vice-president of the Factor 10 Institute in Carnoules (France).
