Green Economy
The concept of a green economy is based on the insight that a form of economic activity that destroys its own natural foundations cannot create lasting prosperity. Global trends such as climate change, increasing scarcity of natural resources, and the loss of biodiversity highlight the urgency of a transition to an economic system that remains within our planet’s ecological carrying capacity.
As a guiding principle, the green economy aims to combine prosperity, ecological sustainability, and social justice. From an ecological perspective, the goal is a low-pollution, climate-neutral, and resource-efficient (circular) economy that abides by the limits on available resources and is in harmony with the environment. Maintaining biodiversity and ecosystems with the services they provide is just as important to Borderstep in this context as alleviating poverty, accessing sustainable income sources, creating employment, and guaranteeing fair labor conditions.
Borderstep conducts research on the structures and goals of a green economy, as well as the transformation paths needed to make it a reality, and evaluates the opportunities and risks of individual sectors, technologies, and services.
